Do you know when the cable casing (for the gears not the brakes) goes into the lever does the casing need one of those ferrule things on the end or can it go in naked like the brake cable casing.

    As log as the cable casing diameter is bigger than the hole it is not necessary to use a ferrule, I don't use them on mine.

    Just looked more closely at the clue in the thread title these are campy ones! I was talking Ultegra, could be different I guess. :oops:

    update:

    No ferrules are required going into the mark III body. Mark IIs do require them, but don’t try jamming a 5mm brake ferrule into the 4mm gear opening.

    Yup, you don't need ferrules on the new shaped lever.
