Panaracer Fire XC Pro or something else?

At the minute I use wire bead continental MK II's, since fitting them they've been prone to punctures it seems, 3 this week alone.
Yesterday I did the scar tree red trail, and just found the Conti's slipping and sliding on any remotely wet roots and rocks.
I did a search and the XC Pro Folding tyres seem to get alot of praise. Merlin cycles are doing an offer on them aswell, £44 delivered with 2 free inner tubes.

Before I go ahead and buy them, is this a good deal? Any other reccomendations?
Ive only been riding since last October, but ride 2 or 3 times a week, mostly local woods/singletrack/muddy paths and now its getting drier, planning to hit red routes quite regularly.

I used to run Panaracer Fire XC Pro's all the time, I found them a nightmare on wet roots and rocks, and the sidewalls used to go thread bare, although to be honest, this may of just been me... They get great write up's and I have a mate that swears by them.
I'm in love with Continental X Kings at the moment but the factors that count are your weight, where you ride, what pressures you run, time of year etc...

Have a look at Maxxis Advantages, I'm reliably informed these are good tires...

Thanks for the reply. I have looked into the X-Kings aswell, folding 2.2, but price is also a consideration for me so the Panaracers seem like a good buy. The X king tread also doesnt look very deep and aggressive?
I weight 95kg's, have my tyres around 35-40psi.

I thought that but was more after a tire that rolled well... The Conti X King is very deceptive in the fact that it gives a lot of grip for the relatively shallow nobblies...

If you are cost conscious, I'm not sure you can go wrong with the PRXCP's but I just found them slippy on wet roots and rocks and not really a very good front tire... Rear, loads of traction and grip.

The 2.4 X King deforms really well over roots and seems to find grip where my older tires struggled... But like I said, a PRFXCP could / may suit you well, depends on the terrain and weight etc

I find the XCP's to be as grippy as anything else I've tried on wet roots (including Stick-E Nevegals which roll like a 50p coin).

Good tyres from the expierence I've had with them.
They last for quite a while and grip is good in the majority of conditions.

Thanks for the replies, I have now ordered some from Merlin cycles.
Hopefully the end of 4+ punctures per week!
