Hi... I'm looking at purchasing a 2011 specialised rockhopper sl comp with a 19" frame as a commuter. I'm 6'2" and usually ride a 21" frame - Giant Trance. Can anyone tell me whether a 19" Specialised frame will be too tight for a lanky legged rider? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

isn't the sl a 2010 model? top tube 615 mm compared to 635mm on the trance, could compensate with stem lengths i suppose

  • Advertsment for specialised rockhopper states 2011 and SL comp. You may be correct - Evans is advertising a 2011 Comp.

I'm riding a 2007 Giant Trance 1. It's a large (20") with a horizontal top bar of 601mm. This is shorter than the 2011 Rockhopper at 615mm. Other observations - head tube angle (Trance 70.5% vs Rockhopper 70%), head tube height (Trance 150 vs Rockhopper 140), seat angle (Trance 73.5% and Rockhopper 73%) and wheel base (Trance 1111 vs Rockhopper 1102). The overall geometry of the Trance 1 and Rockhopper look similar - likely to be a similar ride (excluding suspension set up).

    Thoughts?
