Do I have to remove cassette to get it off, or can I just cut/rip it off?

I'm sure yuo can just break it off. It's only plastic after all. Just don't cut through your spokes if you decide to cut it off

Just remove the cassette, it's a two minute job! Not worth the risk of damaging anything!
