Stanchion Blemish

I noticed a blemish on one of my Stanchions yesterday, I'm don't know how it got there or how long it has been there, the area still feels very smooth but you can feel it just about, but it isn't rough.

What are the implications of such a blemish?

just keep an eye on it if it has appeared but if it was there from new forget about it.
