I have a medium Specialized Allez and I'm 5'10". I feel I am just on the limit for the medium frame and I would imagine it is quite small for you. Large sounds right, XL might be pushing it a bit.

    Cheers

Why do you feel it is too small? are you too cramped? can't get enough leg extension with seat post up to limit? banging your knees on bars when standing to climb?

perhaps a seat post with layback and a longer stem would help? perhaps try these cheaper alternatives first and if they don't suit, then try a larger frame.

  • I'm 6ft 1/2" 12 stome 4lbs now and I have a Spesh Allez I tried both the 56 and the 58 in the shop the 58 felt a bigger more comfortable bike of the two so I bought that. I would think a 54 would be too samll for me in the Spesh range having said that my Boardman Hybrid is a 54 compact frame and I had it 3 years and done 7,000 niles on it but when I bought it that was the biggest frame they did large 54cm!

The question is do you fell comfortable on the 54 you will find the 58 the handle bars are wider and it feels a like a bigger bike compared to the 56 when I sat on them in the showroom. I had ridden a 56 Giant Defy the day before but when I went out on the 58 Spesh it felt right and that made my mind up.

One of my friends had 56 Spesh Allez and he is about 5ft 9" slim and had to change the frame to a 54 after he had a bike fit. I hope this helps!
