Don't see anything in a 2006 Giant with that spec to make it worth £500 in 2012.

The thread is NOT negative - you are asking for opinions on the market price of bikes, which is what you are getting. Dare I say it, you sound a little impatient in your search and people are offering an opinion which may prevent you from splashing the cash on something that is either a 'bit tatty' or arguably overpriced - I think that you ought to see that as a positive, rather than being critical of those opinions. Betcha that Giant is still on eBay at the end of the auction with a starting price of £500 - that will tell you that thousands of others think that it may be overpriced.

We are not criticising YOUR bike in any way, so don't take it all so personally and if you think that we are wrong in our valuations then go & buy the bikes that you have posted - one would have been in a medium frame (poss eq. to a 54cm) so that have proved to be an expensive mistake.

Rant over - you are asking the questions but don't like the answers!

That was some rant to ! i get your point i m just anxious to buy a bike & it seems nothing i have proposed is up to the standards you guys would expect. I appreciate the advice though, i m gonna sit tight look out for the right size & make some silly offers.

Just thought i would let you guys know i managed to pick up a Giant TCR 2 2011 for £400 rrp is £995 & the bike has been riden less than 20miles. I did hope for a carbon bike however this would have cost £500+ & likely to be 3-4 years old with fair use.

plus the fact you don't know how that bike feels, you might not like it when you eventually ride it. Dodgy imo.
