What have I done?

Wow, is this thread still alive?
I haven't been on here for a little while - some of you may have noticed my post in the stolen bikes section...
It was horrible having my bike stolen, like losing an arm. The anger I felt made me dizzy! I had a hard time thinking about anything else for about a week.Anyway, a friend of mine did the best he could and found me a 33 year old Holdsworth road bike that cost me a bottle of single malt [I've just taken on a huge mortgage and am now incredibly poor]. The bike is too big for me but I've purchased a shorter stem for it and have pushed the saddle forward. Hopefully I'll be doing some big rides in the near future, especially now that I have all your excellent advice to help me.
Thanks guys.0 -
Well done, that's a good distance for only six months on the bike. And don't worry about the speed, it'll all come together with time :-)
If you're putting a lot of miles on the bike don't worry too much about what you eat. Just eat good healthy food with plenty of carbs. The weight will just fall off you over time, don't be in a rush to loose X lbs a months. You're building muscle so your actual weight will only fall slowly at times. A keen cyclist can eat what he or she wants within reason - it's our reward for the suffering! :twisted:http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

Sorry to hear about your bike mate.
I took onboard some of the advice on this thread yesterday. Ate every 45 minutes and so on. Unfortunately I was unable to truly assess the benefit as I'd had 5 hours sleep and a few drinks the night before, so still ended the ride tired. I didn't bonk though, or anything like that.0 -
This is a really intresting thread, I have learnt alot through reading this.
Really nice to have info and advice like this on here0
