My Banana and Moonio's 'Harry' Mixte both had/have really short seat posts. Maybe Raleigh were running out of seat post material in the 80s?
Both of you are far to young to know back in the day the norm was an almost level seatpost to stem height set up so in most cases 1-3" and larger frames, its only now pros ride the smallest frame they can fit on with 8' of seatpost to make us all feel like bojo bike riders ...baStards! :evil:1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Seems to be a bit different from the one I had in the '90s.
I'm pretty sure my original one had shimano rear mech, and the shifters were curved plastic too (probably shimano) where as this one is suntour (and original according to the chap in the shop). So I'm guessing it's older model.
Use your Google-fu to find the date of manufacture date from the serial number. The website is called something like vintage Raleigh. Can't be bothered to look right now, but I may later.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future
