I've actually got into the MLB in the last few years, but their doping policy is, er,....well not great. A 50 day suspension, what's that? Out of a 162 game season......

It would be like giving a cyclist a 4 month ban from October - January....

The self righteous ar*e is larging it about procedure and how he's been wronged, when there isn't the slightest evidence that his sample was tampered with. MLB should appeal it to CAS, but I suspect they're afraid of the players union. Owners will take on the union over money, but I suspect the drug testing is a publicity concern rather than a real issue for them. Team mates are saying this fully vindicates him (Braun), and using the case as a stick to beat the testing regime, with complaints about insufficient notice of tests. I love to watch baseball, but it's got such a long way to go in terms of doing it right with drugs. Not least the fact that if the positive was upheld his ban would have been less than one third of a single season.
  • You know, I thought right away, They caught this Braun fellow but I read someone say at the time that his testosterone levels really were odd and a bit crazy. Now, I wonder if there might have been something to what this person originally said about the Testosterone levels now that Braun has been let off the hook. Not that I'm standing up for Braun, I'd really need to read the case but just wanted to point out that there were some sceptical ahead of time.

But yes, it would be good if MLB dealt with this in some sort of uniformity with WADA.

Okay, read a bit up on this, they contest the "chain of custody" and won. They blame the person who took the sample but an athlete tested generally signs and seals it himself or something like this, the little jar of specimen. Ryan Braun says nothing like "I did not do this", his whole defence is criticising the testers and chain of custody.

They may still make something of this, furthermore, "rumour" goes the custodian of the sample might be able to bring action as to how his name is being besmirched. This is total speculation.
