Hi ive decided to remove my big ring and replace it with bash guard as i never use it and my bikes only used on trails so my 22 and 32 ring will suffice. However i assume id be best taking a few links out the chain to take up the slack where it used to go over my 42 ring, is that right and if so how many?

you size just the same as if it was a tripple. around both big cogs without the rear mech and add a full link. 1"."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I reckon 10 links might just about do it.

Just a hunch.
so 10" as one link is 1" (or 1 inner and 1 outer).
I think you mean 5 links."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

42-32=10
Chain only wraps round half the chainwheel 10/2=5
so 2 or 3 pairs depending on whether
1/ It was right to start with
2/ It was 'loosish' due to where the links fell before or not.

you can see why i just do it the easist way."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
