Ribble was giving away UT Athena chainsets at 50 quid... worth having a look if they still have some... the PT ones are far inferior and way more difficult to service
I have a full Centaur UT QS 10 speed groupset and was thinking of upgrading to Athena 11 speed Powershift.
New levers obviously. New rear derailleur and chain I assume.
Do I need a new front derailleur?
Do I need a new chainset? The above seems a bargain :P
But still, £50 in my pocket is better

Thoughts?

From what I understand, to go with the 11 levers, you'll need an 11 cassette, an 11 rear mech and an 11 chain.

I've read a few times that the 10-speed chainset will work fine. Not sure about the front mech. Ideally, change it, but I think it might be worth testing the old one to start with (unless it's a triple).

The 10-speed mech plates will be further apart than the 11-speed (as the 11-speed chain is narrower) - so you may need to push the mech further than with the 10 speed chain. Also, there's a possibility that the cable pull is different - but my guess would be that it's the same.

But anyway, all Campag left hand levers can handle double or triples - so the index ratchets on the 11 speed should have enough clicks to move the 10 front mech. Worse case is that you'll need an extra click to get it across (4) rather than the recommended 3 (so you end up with a middle redundant trim position).

    Thanks!
I forgot to mention the cassette but was aware of it.
So it sounds like I was on the right track in that I don't have to change the chainset and I may or may not have to change the front derailleur. They are not too expensive anyway. :D

You'll be fine with your current chainset and front mech - an 11 chainring is only 0.1mm thinner
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Cool!
Less outlay for better shifting and more gears :P
