29er alternatives to the trek x-caliber

Hi all
I just got stolen my bike and I don't want to be without one for more than 1 or 2 weeks :-)
My previous bike was a Merida Matts Miami Disc (5 years old) with Deore and Deore XT which I bought for discounted price of 600 euros because it was previous year model.
Last Sunday I tried the 29er x-caliber 2012 and I liked it. I felt in love with the fork :-) it is great. I haven't found any other 29er with a comparable fork in the same price range (1100 pounds).
Does anybody has a suggestion? I would prefer the same bike with Shimano gear as I loved the reliability of the Deore/Deore mecs of the previous bike. I never had to re-adjust them! only clean them!!!. The x-caliber uses the SRAM X-7.
any suggestions or comments?
Many thanks in advance

Is a good dpec for the money - I'd get it and change the shifters and rear mech, maybe at point of sale. XT shifters and rear mech is about another £100, then what you recoup from selling the old stuff.0
