700c rigid fork required to replace rubbish suspension

A while back I purchased a hybrid bike with ok frame and components but a rubbish, heavy, unnecessary 58mm suspension fork. I'd like to replace the fork with a rigid 700c V-brake compatible fork, preferably one that has at least a bit of extra crown to axle length so as not to disturb the geometry too much. Anyone got any recommendations?
I've tried looking online and crown-axle lengths are rarely given, and most rigid forks seem to be cantilever compatible not v-brake..
I hope I'm posting this in the right forum - as it's vaguely suspension related I didn't think it would be right in the road or commuting forums

Most that I have seen have AC lengths but they do tend to be the carbon ones.
What AC length are you looking for?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Canti and V-brake posts are one and the same.....if they are for canti's they'll take V-s!

From crown race to centre axle is 480mm uncompressed so 430mm-ish compressed. Would anything in this range be ok?
Re the cantilever v-brake compatibility, thanks for that. I know so little about road bike stuff it's embarrassing, but moving house soon so commuting is going to be necessary.2011 Genesis Latitude

You need about a 450mm fork.0

It's threadless 1 1/8. External cane creek headset. Will a 29er fork be ok? ie would the v brake bosses be in the right place?2011 Genesis Latitude

29er and 700c are exactly the same ie for 622mm rims.0

Do these look any good? A/C of 468mm, which is same as the current sagged sus forks.2011 Genesis Latitude

They look fine - though though consider these:

Hope this isn't a completely stupid question, but would these forks fit a 700c hybrid bike? I know it says for 26" wheels but the axle crown height should be plenty big enough at 44.5, and I think I would prefer the lower sitting geo of these than with the 46.5 above. What exactly is it that makes a fork 26 or 29"?

Fork offset is different (usually).0
