Hi, I was tinkering with my bike, it was upside down with the back wheel removed, the rear brake lever got pulled into the bars,so i pushed the pads back in the caliper.
now instead of having about 10mm of movement on my brake lever before the brake engages it engages straight away. i prefere it how it was...
the brakes are avid elixir 5's.
is there away to get my brake back to how it was?
many thanks in advance for any help.

To be fair the brakes have been great and the rear brake still works, its just I want it to work like it did before.
    Cheers anyway.

Did you push the pistons all the way back in? If not try that and use the brakes a little. Mine sometimes feel a bit odd immediately after changing pads etc but soon get the proper feel back.

Some people don't get on with avids, along with numerous other makes , i'm on my 4th bike with avids now and have never had a problem. Had juicy 3's on 2 bikes, juicy 5's and now on elixir cr's.

I did push them all the way back in, but I have not been out for a ride yet, thanks again.

I you tried to put the wheel in (disc between pads) when they were closed up, you may have damaged the pad surface slightly and need to bed them back in.

    Thanks for everyone's help,

I have solved the problem, I took out the bleed screw on the lever and put the pad spacer block in the calliper, a tiny amount of fluid came out of the lever, put it all back together and it's back just the way it should be.
