Hi there
I need some advice on MTBing in france, I'm going to the Bordeaux region for a week and want to take the bike, is there anywhere someone would recommend, needs to be day trip only as missus is pregnant and can't get away for too long. Also is there any good guide books for gently cycling that we both could do.

Look on this site http://www.chamina.com they do maps with routes, they can be bought from Sanfords.
This site will give you routes for MTB http://www.utagawavtt.com/, go to traces VTT put in your criteria and away you go.
Buy some IGN 25,000 series maps of the area and plan your own routes.
Could also try this site http://www.plani-cycles.fr, some routes put up by membersNow where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"0
