Routes around Bishop Aukland

I've got to drag my ar*e up to Bishop Aukland on Monday, for a meeting on Tuesday. I might put my bike in the car and try to fit a couple of hours in, in the afternoon.

Anyone got any suggestions on where I should be heading ?

    Stick to minor roads and head for Barnard Castle and/or Middleton in Teesdale. There's some great scenery in the North Pennines.
    I'd be tempted to forget the meeting and just go for a bike ride :)
