Any body know if it's possibe to cancel phone contracts early?

I have just over 3 months left on my 24 month contract with Orange. Im able to get a free uprgade on my phone but basicaly i'm fed up of getting bummed by the phone company and paying so much so I want to change to a sim only deal like Giffgaff. Does anyone know if I can buy out early or do I have to wait? I know I could ask them but I'll probably just get fobbed off.

Cheers

you will be expected to pay off the remiander of your contract, just be mindful though you have 3 months left of the contract or 3 months to an upgrade?

I am with orange and i can upgrade in april and my contract runs out in june. I dropped my i-phone in the sink like an idiot and orange did not want to know even though i have been with them years and spend 50 pound plus a month with them, they offered me a new phone for 30 pound but then i enter another 24 month contract with them as well as the remainder of the 4 months i have left. I promptly told them to get f**ked.

I am seeing out the next 4 months with them then they are getting binned
  • You van cancel at anytime, you will of course have to pay the remaining months line rental.

So you dropped your iphone in the sink and want orange to give you a new one for free? They then offered you one for 30 quid and you told them to get f**ked?

Some carriers offer automatic insurance with superphone contracts. I dropped by blackberry in a puddle a few months ago, went to my carrier, explained what happened, and walked out with a brand new blackberry.

If that was the case, I stand corrected, however it sounds from his post like he hadn't taken out the insurance but wanted the coverage it offered nonetheless. Jest or not, nothing is free, well almost nothing...
  • well done on sticking with the orange contract for so long!! HATED orange when i was with them. i bought my contract out! cost quite abit though but defo worth it in the long run!!

only way is to buy out as far as im aware unless you let it run its course. top man on telling orange to F### off :)

Stuff & nonsense! Lots of things are free. The best things are free. Believe it or not, I was paid £30 for my mobile phone contract. If you're not bothered about having the latest handset & just want to send texts, make calls, or use the Internet, you shouldn't need to pay much or anything at all for your contract. I've just taken out an 18-month contract that cost £0.00. I made the "purchase" through a cashback website (TopCashBack, Quidco, &c.) that gave me £30 for taking out the contract. It just so happened I already had a decent handset so I discarded the bottom-of-the-range one they sent me. Result: good phone; free usage. Enjoy this state of affairs while it lasts.

just go into a phone shop next time its convenient (either orange, or phones4u, carphonewarehouse etc.) and they should be able to get your contract up on their system within 30 seconds to tell you what you can and can't do.

If i remember correctly you should be able to cancel within 3 months of the end of the contract on orange... if not then you have to buy out the rest of the contract.

My old phone broke 6 months ago.. and they wanted a ridiculous amount to buy out the rest of my 24month contract on orange... so i just got it fixed for free and waited for my upgrade. (new samsung galaxy nexus is superb btw.)
