SRAM cranksets

I bought from ebay what was described as "SRAM S600 Crankset" and "used for less than a week". The price looked good, so went ahead.

They've arrived today but didn't look the same as the SRAM website. The chainwheels are fixed and there's a plastic trim around the centre to blend in the arm. They do look very new though.

From what I can find on the web, they actually look like SRAM S200 without the trouser guard that many seem to have. There are numbers stamped into each crank arm but don't seem to be part numbers.

So not exactly as advertised, but what is the difference and is it worth arguing about ?

Any advice appreciated (apart from spending loadamoney  )

Isn't the S200 square taper and S600 external?

The S200 may just be square taper, but Halfords, J E James Cycles, UKBikeStore all advertise the S600 with square taper. It is also available with "powerspline".

So which is it, s200 or s600? you need whichever fits your bottom bracket.

The S600 is lighter, with replacable chainrings. I wouldn't be happy if sent an S200

Thanks "supersonic", that confirms my thoughts. The S200 is used on a Giant Rainier, a ladies trekking bike. Although I'm hardly an extreme rider, that's not my demographic !!

    Now awaiting the seller's responce.....
