Brake cartridge housing - universal?

May sound stupid but if I buy bbb brake cartridge housings can i fit kool stop inserts at a later date? Or am I then stuck with having to replace with bbb Pads forever?

Nah they're all interchangeable, you only need worry about the shape of the pads as Campag and Shimano are slightly different. Shimano also have a little pin that you insert into the housing to keep the pad in place whereas Campag just slide in.

There are different patterns for road bikes and mountain bikes - MTB cartridge pads use the pin mentioned, whereas Shimano-pattern road pads had a retainer screw in the pack of the shoe, but both designs are pretty well ubiquitous - the only exception being Campagnolo road pads which have a different design.
