hi all, does anyone know of a company that makes a plate etc to mod a caliper brake to run v brakes?
i could get one fabricated, but if one is available off the shelf, it will be a bit quicker.

cheers.

    define "caliper brake".

there are some big U plates that can be attached to the seat stays. Identiti do one for their frames that could be modded. IIRC there were a few done for BMXs as well.

Your post is not clear - are you looking to put V's on a frame without bosses, or are you actually trying to do what you say?

  • sorry, a bit clearer!
my mates hand bike (wheelchair) runs side pull caliper brakes and the frame has no bosses. i am looking for a 'u'plate that can mount to the caliper brake hole and the fork legs so bosses can be attached. something like a brake booster design.

hopefully it makes a bit more sense.
  • cheers nicklouse, that is the stuff im looking for!
now, to find one that will run 700c wheels.....

makes no difference just put it where needed.

last hand bike I worked on

    also improving the brakes.

    done

kept the old brake as well as it had a lock on the lever that was great for "parking" it .

this is the problem, the bridge is very close to the rim and a standard bmx one hangs the bosses too low.
    worth a punt though!

    check out this bad boy!

for that I would be having something made up. as you also have to consider the second brak mounting as well.

Or set the frame and build a disc wheel :)
