My Custom Enigma Yatesy

Hi guys,
Ive ridden mountain bikes for years but have decided to dip my toes into the dark and murky waters of road ridding!!
So here is my first road bike:
Its number 1 of a limited production run, originally supposed to be 25 but in the end only 20 were made.
Spec;
Frame - Enigma Yatesy
Fork - Columbus Muscle
Wheels - Mavic Ksyrium SL
Brakes calipers front and rear - Chorus Skeleton (not whats shown)
Shifters - Chorus Ergo 11Spd
Chainset - Chorus, 39/53
Cassette - Chorus, 11-25
Front mech - Chorus
Rear mech - Chorus
Bars - Zipp Contour SL
Stem - Zipp Service Course SL
Seatpost - Condor Supremacy
Saddle - Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio Flow (not whats shown)
Finally Nokon Gear/Brake housing.
Weight: 16.2 lbs
The sharp eyed out there might have spotted that in the pics its sporting a Super Record groupset.
The previous owner wanted to keep the groupset, which was fine as i had the Chorus!
I havent had a chance to ride it since i built it up, but i did ride it when it belonged to it last owner and i loved it,
completely change my out look on road riding
Ive got some other bits planned for it already, for a start im not impressed with the braking power or the amount of flex in the brake arms. so I going to try some zero g's or negative g sl's, when i recover financially!
Also got some other ideas for the future to.
Anyway, Let me know what you think.

Nice bike mate - Like the Retro look about it. I wouldnt change too much about the bike - I have the older style Chorus brakes and they work fine, but everyone is different. enjoy the ride.0

Thanks mate.
My riding of road bikes is pretty limited, i guess the brakes feeling like theyre under powered is because im used to hydraulic disc brakes running 180mm rotors!"People ask me what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike - busting my ass - six hours a day. What are you on?"

Your first road bike! I now hate you more than I hate Mallorca Jeff.
Just joking thats a lovely bike0 -
For a first road bike you've gone all out! Looks really nice, and Chorus as well, no messing about!Road - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=12777154&p=16943702#p16943702

What's it made from? Guessing it's something from Columbus to go with the carbon stays.0

Top work, my first road bike (after stopping MTB'ing) was also an Enigma (Echo) and I can honestly say I quite like not getting muddy anymore :-)
Thinking of getting a cx bike that can double up as a winter / pub bike and may go Enigma again.0 -
Thanks for the thumbs up guys
@ noiseboyfeetman, i like your Lynskey, We are Lynskey dealers where i work and i nearly went down that route but fell in love with the Enigma.
@ Simonhi, Your Enigma is STUNNING!! nuff said.
Its made of Columbus Spirit, A Niobium steel alloy!! not sure what that means in terms of make up but it does result in a very nice ride! Got out for a quick blast to work this morn and again on the way home.
Pushing those big gears is hard work, and that's exactly what i want!!
I haven't given up mountain biking, its still my main interest but i want to increase my fitness and leg strength.
I didnt think that going Chorus wash going all out! i work in a bike shop so cost wise it wasnt to bad.
Super Record would have been nice, But the wallet wouldnt stretch to that, and ive got to earn the right to run gear that nice!!!

That is one classy build, very refined.
Your saddle does look very far forward, just sayin.0 -
Saddle looks clamped right in the middle of the rails :?

Very nice! As far as I know, all the paint jobs for Enigma are done at Colour Tech, where I recently deposited my old frame for a respray. They had a few hanging up, looking quite splendid. I took a picture of this one because it's done in "Ferrari Red", which I've chosen for mine...
Would you happen to know whether yours is specifically "Gios Blue"?? As that's the other colour I'm having on it. Looks lush, anyhow.0 -
Not for me to say where other peoples saddles should be, just though it was quite far forward. Upon closer inspection it does look to be clamped in the middle.
I use an inline post too, I think it's because I've got short thighs but I'm always concious it's not the "norm" and I'm always looking at other peoples positions. I know I need to just get over it, if it's comfy that it's fine.0 -
@Philpub, it is indeed Gios blue. in my opinion its the most stunning blue ive seen!
The saddle does look forward in the pics, it is actualy in the middle though, i think its just the angle that makes it look that way. The pics are the ones i took for our customers build, i have the saddle a little bit further back as i have a longer body and the arms of an orang-outang!!
As soon as i get a nice day and some spare time! i'll take some pics of it as it is now but for all intensive purposes it looks the same.
Bit of a result for me that he decided he'd rather have a colnago of us than this!!"People ask me what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike - busting my ass - six hours a day. What are you on?"

I spent ages agonising over RAL colour charts to find the reddest red and the bluest blue, before it was pointed out to me I really wanted Ferrari Red and Gios Blue. Simple. Dave at Colour Tech even showed me the actual paint pot with the blue in it. "Ooooh, yes please, that one!" (Results to follow shortly, I'm picking up the frame on Monday then it needs to be built...)0 -
I look forward to some pics when youve got it home!"People ask me what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike - busting my ass - six hours a day. What are you on?"
