Impending birthday recommendations

Its my birthday at the end of the month and i'm being asked what I really want.....now, I have ideas for many lumps sums of cash (being soaked up into my photography hobby and, hopefully, future career), but I want a few bike things to ready myself for the impending long sponsored rides.

The few little things I've considered needing are:
CO2 pump
Lightweight multi-tool
and a saddle bag to keep it all in.

I've got the regulation repair kit, tyre levers and obviously will follow up with a spare tube. I think i'm OK for clothing, but thats something I am ready to fund as and when needed, its literally those little things that are useful that i'm after.

I've got a Trek 1.2 road bike, at the moment as it came from the factory, so am looking for lightweight, compact things to fit into a compact bag. Anything else I should consider as a useful addition, and any recommendations on what to look at for these items?

A few recommendations based on your requirements:

    Multitool
I picked one of these up yesterday after loosing my larger 'Alien':
    Topeak Mini Tool: Ebay: 360341816965
It has most things you could need and much smaller than the Alien.

    CO2 Inflator:
They don't come much smaller than this:
Sram Mini CO2 Twist Bike Tyre Inflator : Ebay: 360392287754
Giant also do a similar one... they do what they are supposed to do, which is good enough for me. The SRAM one has a plastic sleeve for the cartridge, so stops you getting frost bite in the wet! There is also a version with a pair of tyre levers.

    Saddle Bag:
Lots to choose from. Just go with one that is as small as needed... the bigger it is, the more you'll carry. Just pick one you like the look of, of a decent make.

I am fond of the Topeak stuff as it's decent quality (even if they do sell it in Halfords!), but it isn't as nice as the Lezyne kit which is lovely, but obviously (usually) costs more.

  • have you thought of this

its a speed tyre lever, brilliant for quick removal/replacing of tyres.
