How to trace frame manufacturer
Hi ther folks
I picked up a nice steel frame bike last week it's just needing some TLC to make it into a decent winter bike I have stripped it down to repaint it as its a horrible lime green and black which a previous owner obviously thought was a good idea, I was wondering if there was any way to work out the age or manufacturer of the frame. The only info I have is the frame numbers they are 76828 and 3189693 the rear brake cable is also routed internally if this helps.

76828 might mean the 28th frame made in August 1976. This was a common way of numbering frames and a lot of makers used such a system . If it is the case, it would be quite a big maker turning out at least 28 frames - do you have any photos of the frame and forks as it is sometimes possible to identify unique features.0

I never thought about a photo before I stripped the frame for painting I will sit the forks and frame together and get a picture up tomorrow.0
