Hi all,

I wish to start cycling and have a $500 budget. And the options of bikes available in my vicinity are:

- Cannondale Trail 6
- Giant Revel 3 and Revel 2
- Trek 3500 & 3700
- Schwinn Frontier Elite

I mostly wish to ride to work but need an MTB given that the roads are far from perfect. I'm 5'7" and 120 lbs.
I hope to do some trail riding (10% of the time) but mostly wish to have a bike that works nicely for daily bumpy-road usage.

THese are the only brands currently available to me. Looking forward to your inputs..

Many thanks

Bikeradar is a UK based website.
What $ are we talking US, Australian or some other?
A bumpy road doesn't need front suspension, so don't carry the weight, get one with rigid forks but large enough volume tyres to take the sting out.
What is the relative price of the above, it could be very different where you are to the UK.

  • Hi Simon

It's USD. So about ₤300 - ₤400 is the budget. I want to start trail riding gradually and so narrowed down to these options. Which one do you reckon has the best specs and parts relative to the others mentioned?
