I've a Cannondale T700 that I think dates from 1992, although the T700 was more of a tourer, i suppose, than a racer, although in those days there was not so much between the two species as there might be now. I used it as a get- about bike and for long happy rides through the South Australian wine country where I was living a the time. Later, in 1996, I loaded it up and set off on a 10,000-mile solo trek through the Australian outback.

It survived that well and while I live in the UK now, I still keep that old '92 Cnnondale down there for ruding when I get home, and a couple if years ago my 16 year-old son used it to trek from Adelaide up to Coober Pedy.

    Nice old bike.

What would you like to know about it?

Could be wrong, but my guess is they want to borrow it to test a 20 year old road bike against the current generation of machines....although I'm not sure what it will prove...
  • We don't necessarily want to to test it against a 2012 bike - like you say it probably wouldn't prove much! It's the 20th year of CP so we're just after some bikes that were on sale when we first came out!

  • The year I ordered my 653 steel framed Ribble with a rolls saddle. Still going strong and rolling on the original tyres which are a bit cracked :) Nothing replaced in all those years and I was using it for weekend rides until a few weeks ago when I treated myself to a caad 10 . 14 gears make for tough climbs.
  • I have a Tommasini Super Prestige, with full Campagnolo including Delta brakes, which was purchased new in 92.
Heres a link to some pictures as it stands now, although it now has amber wall tyres.
