Hello,

I am interested in buying a pair of good bib shorts. I am looking into Assos F1 Uno S5 but It seems that i am at the edge of of their sizes. I am 1.92 m and Assos sizing chart says XL is 186-190 while XLG 191-195+ . Which would be the correct sizing since that 1.95+ kinda scares me and I do not have the option of trying sizes where I live.

Thank you

I'm 1.83 and L is fine for me. The bloke I usually ride with is 1.90+ and wears XL.

I think you're likelier to be XL. But where are you buying them from? Most places will happily exchange if the size turns out to be wrong.

No, I'd reckon you're better off in XLG. If you're between sizes it's better to have just a little bit more room rather not quite enough.

FWIW I'm 183, 71-75kg (depending on the season) and I'm very comfortable in the XL S5 Uno's. Mind you, I like their shirts in M, their jackets in L and their gloves in XL.

Surely it's more to do with girth than height, other than perhaps for the length of the shoulder straps?

As the assos site stresses, and labours, and shows in its charts, and as discussed ad nauseum here, and waffled about endlessley....

    GO ON HEIGHT!

follow the chart, and go higher if on the edge unless you are a hunched rake.

Well, admittedly now that I check I see that the M size which fits me perfectly is for height 170-179cm and I am 175cm, but it still doesn't make sense. Must be some sort of weird Swiss sorcery, microscopic clockwork inside the seams or something.

What he said. Not much difference in the waist size between XL and XXL. However, you need to follow the height guide otherwise the bibs will be too long or short, both of which would be irritating.
  • FWIW, Im 175cm and wear M in Assos bibs, but XL in their tops (that'll be all those pies!)

Ok, I'm convinced about the sizing-by-height thing now - I'm also 175cm and an M in assos and campagnolo bibs, but an S in campag tops!
  • Any reason for asking pretty much the same question twice?

I also don't see you contributing much ...

I'm 1m86 and have a pair of Assos in size M; got a very good deal, but they only had M or XL - no L. The XL were massive in the leg, with the silicon gripper loose around my thigh (and I have pretty big thighs). The M on the other hand seemed a surprisingly good fit - straps a bit tight when standing, but fine when sitting on the bike. To be honest, I think L would be slightly better but they are fine for me as I could never justify paying £130 for a pair of shorts (or whatever it is they cost full price...)
