Can anyone confirm if the latest Addict frames on the R2 and R3 are identical in terms of weight and carbon used and its only that they are different paint jobs?

I was looking into getting a new R2 frameset, but for 300 quid extra I can get a R3 complete bike.

This way I could sell on the 10 speed 105 groupset and wheels and hopefully offset the £300 and means getting it cheaper?

What do people think?

Cheers,

Dru

  • The addict R3 and R2 are indeed the same in terms of weight/carbon used, The R3 could be lighter though due to the matte paint(thats debatable though).

I can vouch for the ride of the addict, Ive got an R3 and just have just had a R1 built up, although with the ice about at the moment not had the chance to ride it yet which is literally torture!

It depends if its worth the hassle of buying the full bike and stripping and selling the parts VS just buying the frame, only you can decide that though.
  • let me know if you want a buyer for the wheels and groupo and i would give £50 at least on top of the difference . cheers Tim . i might want my 58cm addict R1 or not ? its in classifieds

Ring up Westbrook cycles as I presume that's the shop you are talking about. That's where I got my new Addict R2 frame from. And I didn't pay the asking price on the website. I thought about doing what you're doing but I liked the colour scheme on the R2 much more and for the saving I may have got it probably wouldn't have been worth the effort (stripping the bike and then taking pictures etc etc) and then if it ends up on ebay there are fees etc.
