Hi
I'm looking at a used Avanti frame in sz 54 to build up as a spare/winter bike but not sure it will fit me. Anyone got/had one of these and able to give me some advice re sizing please ?
There's little info available on the web and I can't find a geometry chart anywhere, best I can find is this sizing info on Wiggle, which suggests that a 54 frame is only suitable for up to 175cm/5'9'':
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/raleigh-avanti-carbon-comp-2010
I'm 179cm/5'10 1/2", inseam approx 331/2". I've had a size 54 TT bike in the past but of course the geometry is all different. I'm not looking for a super aggressive position as this will be a winter/training bike so it needs to be comfortable for up to 3-4 hour rides.
My instinct is that it will be too smal but the guy selling says he is 5'10" and he rides it with a 120mm stem.
Any thoughts from anyone who has had one of these and can comment on sizing ?
cheers

Yeah, I noticed myself when I was vaguely thinking about one of the Raleighs that they don't provide a geometry chart at all on their website, just a table of frame sizes and average heights of riders, together with the kid's sizes!
I just don't get Raleigh, you keep reading about how they are trying to move on from the cheap & nasty image they've acquired during the last 30 years, they have some really brilliant high end road bikes by all accounts, and yet they are committing commercial suicide with the marketing / sales. Apart from no geometry info (which any serious roadie buying a bike is going to be looking for), the paint jobs are like some 80s retro nightmare. It's almost like they want to sabotage the product.0 -
I love the graphics on the one I've ordered. Each to their own though eh.0
