Servicing a Shimano freehub (RSX)
I've stripped my hub down, it's now minus bearings axle and cassette. I can't see how to do anything with the freehub though.
this bikeradar article suggests it unscrews using an allen key. I couldn't see a hex fitting inside I didn't have much light on it though (+ 20 years of filth).
Another video had some chap prising a pressed dust cover off the outside of the hub to allow access to the innards for degreasing and relubing (here). He suggested that the dust cap had to be replaced by a new one at this stage.
Any preferences? My hub is spinning freely in both directions at the moment.

Not serviceable."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Wot he said ^
AFAIK all Shimano freehubs are attached in the same way; big tubular nut down the middle undone with a 10mm allen key or hex bit. Just buy a replacement freehub; not designed to be user serviceable. (though you may want to dismantle the knackered one out of curiosity)
That video shows an MTB freehub being flushed / lubed using a natty proprietary gadget / aftermarket seal which would be overkill for the home mechanic. Sounds like yours is beyond simple lubrication!0
