Not sure if it is bad form to post about rides on here.
For the last 5 years there has been a fully supported charity ride from Bristol to its' twin city Bordeaux in France.
See http://www.propsforward.org/pedalforprops/
The ride is over 4 days and riders can choose the main ride which is between 105 and 130 miles each day. Last year there were 50 riders and this year the charity is looking for 60 riders. Transport is provided for riders and bikes back to the Bristol starting point at the end.
I am involved with the charity and the proceeds of the ride help fund a centre wear young adults with varying degrees of handicap or learning difficulties are provided with further education or employment when leaving school.
Leaving the charity to one side the ride is one of the best and most fun rides I have ever done and this year looks to be one of the best yet. I have done the ride most years.
I've been told by the organisers that they are looking for just a few more riders so I thought I would post the link on here. If interested just follow the link on the website or PM me.
Many thanks.

Nowt wrong with promoting rides IMO but "you cover your own costs for the trip (£395) and raise a minimum of £600.00 for PROPS". Ouch!0
-
Yes it is a big commitment but the 395 includes return ferry cost, 4 nights hotel accommodation and five vans and a lorry providing food and support for the 60 riders. For that you get 4 days fully supported, signposted riding all the way from Bristol to Bordeaux.0

Damn it! Wish I'd seen this before I signed up for London to Paris.
Ah well maybe next yearScott Foil - viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=129827790 -
Sounds a great ride, best of luck, sadly I can't make it. Another time perhaps

I reckon that's doable in 2 days with allowance for a couple of hours kip in a bus shelter. That'd save on hotels and so on.
This is the board with Audaxes in the title, so someone had to say it0 -

Probably not as after the first 110 miles you come to a stop at the channel which needs an overnight ferry to overcome then need to do another few hundred miles.
You would also miss the dinners, the camaraderie, the beer and wine and the award giving at the end.0 -
Just want to say the ride finished in Bordeaux on Saturday after 500 grew miles in 4 days. Fully supported with bikes transported back on a lorry and with all 58 riders finishing. Most flew back on Sunday after a meal and presentation in a hotel in Bordeaux. The rest came back on minibuses on Monday.
A fantastic event made unique by the participation of three students, being helped by the charity www.propsforward.org , who each cycled 160 of the miles, one on the back of a tandem being helped by a support worker.
Next year's Bristol to Bordeaux ride is being planned as we speak.
