Steerer tube internal diameter

Im currently designing a product that will fit inside a 1 1/8 straight steerer tube. I am aware that the wall thickness of the steerer is greater at the bottom than at the top. Does anyone know at which point the steerer wall thickness starts to taper into the diameter it is at the bottom? Is this different for steel and aluminium steerers, and does it vary by manafacturer?
Thanks, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Varies a lot! I have a steerer from an RS Tora in the shed, I will investigate.
Alu steerers have thicker overall wall thicknesses (generally).0 -
It varies a hell of a lot. By model. Make. Use.and material. The internal butt also varies a lot. If you can keep it less than 3 inc long you should be safe."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
