Just got myself a pair of said shoes, and I am about to fit the cleats. Now maybe I'm being a bit of a div here, but I've read the manual 3 times and am still non the wiser. They come with a couple of anti-slip adhesive stickers, where do they stick to? Is it between cleat and carbon sole? As it seems to suggest in the diagram. Or, in the manual it says 'We suggest to stick it on the plate of the chosen pedal'. I have 105 pedals which does not seem give a lot of surface to fix the anti-slip sticker to. Can anyone tell me where to stick it! So to speak.

Thanks.

Cheers richiebones, I did wonder if they were absolutely necessary. Does this mean you couldn't work it out either.

I trim them and stick them to the Look cleats. I have found cleats can slip on Sidi soles so I do use them.
  • Did not use the stickers and all seems to be Ok here with my Sidi shoes.
  • Didn't use them with my Sidis (Shimano cleats) - no issues. I would guess you stick them to the cleat with the rough side facing the sole, as others have already said.

You stick them on the sole of the shoe, with the rough side facing out. Not as others have suggested on the cleats, if you did this you would need new stickers everytime you replaced worn cleats! They stop the cleat sliding on the sole, good idea as it prevents peeps over tightening the cleats in an attempt to stop the slipping, which coukd result in expensive damage to the shoe.

Thanks to you all for answering, it's made me realise that maybe I'm not such a div after all! From the different answers it would seem that I am not the only person a bit baffled by the instructions from Sidi. Sole of the shoes was my initial thought, but then the manual has the line 'We suggest to stick it on the plate of the chosen pedal'. :?

Think I may just do as richie and others have done, not bother with them.

Hmm, not sure about that, I ride Campag pro-fit pedals and when I buy new cleats there is always new self adhesive anti-slip pads supplied.

To be truthful I don't think it makes any odds whether applied to the cleat or the sole, but without it I have found my cleats slip.

Go check most cleat ads on any online store and see how many include a self adhesive pad, just becasue you happen to ride a fairly rare type of cleat that supplies one, doesnt mean that they all will, I have never had any sticker grip tape supplied with a pair of SPD SL or look cleats. If you think about it is is obvious thet the grip tape sticks on the sole and the reason SIDI didnt stick it on was to allow the user to postion it correctly for the way they fit their cleats. On the newer models od shoes they dont supply, however they have finished the carbon with a rough surface finish in the area where a cleat will be fitted
