This race/event looks amazing! Definitely something that everyone on this forum should do at least once.
I'm thinking 2014 sounds like the year to do it. Up for it?

You've gotta remember that it comes with housing and food as well for a week, as well as riding not just one track. I'd be well up for it if I even had a clue if I could get free.0 -

Yeah - it does seem a lot but like MM says - that price is for everything (except flights!) transfers, meals, accommodation (tent & blowup mattress), transfer all your kit (and you) to the start of each race, uplifts to each race start, snacks/hydration, Suspension techs, fully tooled repairs tent etc etc and 7 days of riding some of the best singletrack in Europe plus obviously meeting a load of riders from all over the world. And also its' sort of a once-in-a-lifetime bucket-list type thing
A grand doesn't seem that much to me. Doubt you'd be able to do a guided weeks holiday in the Alps for that.
My only problem is I'd need another bike to do it on! - kinda puts the price up a bit"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Can't view the video but, from the little I know about it (bike involved, chair lift, big mountains, riding to Monaco), I'd definately be up for it! I'm starting to do yearly trips to the Alps and we haven't been spending as much as this on a riding holiday yet, but I should be getting a few pay rises so might be able to stump up the cash. I've certainly the bike to do it on.
The video on your blog isn't working on my 'puter so I'll check it out later. Can you drop any other links in here in the mean time for me to procrastinate from my work load?0 -
the 10'000m climbing might be tough mind :shock:0

The only remaining questions are, which bike do I take, Elly Moment or Canyon Torque, and are you an ale man or a lager lout?0

You could get 2 weeks at White Room for that. Though lift passes would be extra I think.
Still, it's not just a money decision is it. TBH I'd be all over it if I was confident I could complete the week but I think my legs'd unscrew and drop off on day 1.Uncompromising extremist0 -

Larger lout I'm afraid. And if I'm in a position to get another bike next year it'll probably be a Nerve AM. Team Beer Can-yon?"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

hmm, £500 a week huh? fair enough.
We're talking Sept 2013 or even 2014 - plenty time to get into shape"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Well, bare me in mind, I'd probably be up for it if I've the funds (the other half is talking quite a bit about mortgages these days which I might have to do before I spend any more money...). Beer Can-Yon we'll be when we've the money and fitness - I'm inclined to agree with Northwind about the legs!0

As soon as i saw it has 5 sponsors for the event i knew it going to cost a bomb.
Tbh the price is quite steep given you can get flights and acom pretty dam cheap in Europe today, all inclusive too.
So you pretty much paying for the singletrack routes,....pretty sure you could DIY yourself a package for around £800-900 and get a decent experience
still looks niceLondon2Brighton Challange 100k!

For £1000, even accounting for other costs, I'd want way better than a tent for accommodation for a week in the Alps!0

Sure, but that's not really comparable IMO... If you enter this it's because you want the full package, the event itself not just the riding. How many times in your life are you going to be spending days on end riding and living with some of the greatest?
It's a bit like asking why you'd pay to do a downhill race, when you could just go the week after and ride for free.Uncompromising extremist0
