Ultegra Grey Touchup Paint?

The new Ultegra Grey (same colour as the old Ultegra SL grey?) looks great, but as I've recently discovered any scrapes or scratches look very obvious showing the bright silver underneath.

Does anyone know if touch up paint is available? or perhaps any automotive paint colours match? 'Volkswagen anthracite grey' seems pretty close, if maybe a ahde too light.

If you pop down to your local trade car paint supplier (ie not Halfords but the places on industrial estates) he'll be able to match it exactly - you'll also probably be able to buy a 100ml pot for something like £3 (well, that's what it is at my local, but then again its the sort of place where the more you know them the cheaper things get).

May also be worth a quick email to Shimano (Madison?) to seee if tyhey have a paint code for it - supply paint code to paint man et le voila.

Or use it as an excuse to dump it all into next door's garden and get D/A or Red as a replacement.

Or better still dump it in my garden and I can upgrade my 9 speed to 10
    Yellow is the new Black.

Or do as I did, spend the winter rubbing off all the useless paint and buffing the alloy to a mirror finish 8)

The only problem being that you have to constantly keep on top of the polishing otherwise it goes all gash the minute any moisture gets on it/the shine goes dull.

Same problem as to why polished m/bike frames look cool when first done but far, far too much hassle re upkeep.

Very true but as I have a fetish for polishing alloy I can indulge myself. :D

I took my Ultegra grey pedal with me and have had the colour matched. I now have a little pot of Shimano Ultegra grey to touchup the groupset :D So all sorted.
  • Hi Bus_ter, where did you take your pedal to get it colour matched? Thanks
