DOLAN CX frame what will it take?

I'm thinking of doing some light off roading. Nothing technical. Cross country on bridleways and the like. Maybe do some of the new sportives which combine road and off road. Dolan's have some good offers on their cyclo cross alu frames. As I have spare road parts that would go a long way to equiping it without too much additional expense ( hence not looking at MTBs ) I'd like to hear of anyone's experience with these frames ?
How much punishment will they take ?
Are there issues with toe overlap for instance ?
What is the quality of finish ?
