Fitting a new chain

I am trying to fit a new chain to my bike. I have bought a shimano chain and I had no trouble removing the old chain using the correct pin removal tool. I am having trouble lining up pin to fit the new chain, any tips would be appreciated.

I use KMC quick links rather than pins...

the new pin should be an easy fit untill you press the actuall pin part in.

the domed part goes in first
