Slime type tubes

I'm thinking of giving the Slime type tubes ago. Does anyone know if the gunk tries to seal the valve if you want to let some air out. I ride with higher pressures somtime on the road and let a bit out if I'm going off road. I have visions of the slime blocking up the valve because its trying to seal it. Anyone know about this?

slime tubes dont work there have been a few threads on these recently..
try using joe's in your tubes it works pretty well.
warning it will not seal pinch flats though and can get messy if you do pinch..
best bet when it comes to letting air out of the tyre/tube is leave the valve at the top for a few minutes then do it with the valve at the 12-3-or-9 oclock position... this way no sealent should escape and clog the valve..
also helps if you leave the valve towards the top of the wheel when the bike is left for any time...www.bearbackbiking.com

A chap in my MTB club put some slime tubes in, small slver of glass (much the same size as a large thorn) and all the slime did was make a white gunky mess everywhere, the tyre was full of it....needless to say he got no help changing it as we were trying to stay clean!

Ran them once and all that happened was i punctured more and the slime went everywhere, resulting in someones wheelie bin looking like someone threw a few hundred condoms in it then got a dog to throw up in it.0

Wife used Slime in her tyres for a few years and they always sealed without problem, I have even pulled a thorn out and it has sealed straight away. When I have changed her tyres lots of evidence of past punctures that have sealed.
I do think it is hit or miss though if it works as I have seen and met other people out riding when it has failed on them.
She has been using Joes No Flats for about a year now with no punctures. I prefer to use a double tube as this seems to stop most punctures with not a lot of weight added .0
