Anyone used 'em? I'm very tempted by chrome os (you can get compiled builds without having to buy a chromebook - chromebooks are definitely silly), i've tried jolicloud but i felt all the 'social' options were intrusive. Currently using ubuntu 11.04 on a hp compaq mini 110 (new puter isn't an option).

Anyone tried chrome(ium)? I'm not anti the browser but there's a few things that keep me on firefox... What i really want is just a browser with a media player tbh... I never use my netbook for 'proper' computing and if i need to i can remote desktop to a server at work...

So, ok, it needs a browser, media player and an RDP client... :D

    Windows 8 Preview is good.

It's not minimalist but it is free and will run anything that works in Vista or 7.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
  • Ptheh, hack cough windoze ew..... :D
  • PCLInuxOS (Phoenix edition, with the Xfce desktop) on an old Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo PA laptop.

Still ********** fiddling with the wireless!

What's wrong with what you've got now? I.e. what's up with Ubuntu?
Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.
  • why do you want a minimalist OS? you can get distros that run lighter faster things than KDE/Gnome. as to if it's worth it?

the small and quick OS's are all long gone really.
