Front Derailleur Problem

Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new to biking so my technical knowledge isn't all that. Anyway, I was out riding the other week when all of a sudden my front derailleur seemed to be rubbing for some reason. After reading up on a few things I decided to try sort it out by adjusting the H screw. I managed to get it to stop rubbing, however, I now struggle to shift up. I have to press the lever all the way back (to the point of where it hurts my thumb) and it just about shifts up.
I'm running X5's on the derailler & shifter. If anyone's able to shed some light as to how I get make the shifter a bit more responsive it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Chris

Have a read of this:
http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-hel ... djustments
It's long, but is the best guide and covers the lot.0 -
It would have just needed some tension adding tithe cable. The stops are just that and stop it moving too far.
Read the guide on Parktools."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
