talas to float??

I'm looking into converting my 2009 talas 36 rlc into a float but dont know weather it will be worth it??
The 2009 float cartridge and top cap from mojo is £80 (cant use a later cartridge I'm told due to cartridge sizing)
I have always experienced stiction in the initial travel of the talas no matter what i do with the low speed compression (even straight back from services) also I never use the adjustable travel suspension settings. I would like it if I could get lockout on the float but I'm told with the 2009 cartridge I cant.
Does anyone have any experience of doing this and how did they get on??
Also will it be worth changing from Talas to Float??? I generally ride to the top to belt it down as fast as I can. What I would personally class as allmountain.
I was told that converting to a Van would be the way to go but I'm worried that would add too much weight.

In a word yes - the non talas system is smoother with less stiction.0
