Quick question.
I have a CAAD10 which is currently running a BB30 50/34t Gossamer Pro chainset.
I have just obtained a BB30 SRAM Force chainset (also 50/34t).
Is it a case of just swapping cranks over and keeping current BB30 fittings? I dont need to faff around with the BB at all do I?
Many thanks

If you manage to remove the cranks without upsetting the BB30 bearings then yes... But it's very possible that when you try to get the drive side crank out, you'll need to whack the end of it with a mallet which could also dislodge the bearing with it. I don't know if the Sram chainset has come with all parts, but your Gossamer chainset will have a spring wave washer on the non-drive side also, so just make sure you don't lose that.0

correct
as above, take care not to dislodge the bearings in the shell if the spindle is a bit tight
fwiw when i remove my cranks they come out ok with a gentle thump from the palm of the hand
read the removal/installation instructions for both, it's not the same as traditional cranks, i.e. things like how many sram plastic washers to usemy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Cheers guys, will indeed read the manuals, normally a slight 'tap' with a rubber mallet does the job, *hopefully* things wont get too complicated
Are BB30 BBs all the same? ie dont differentiate with brands?
The Force chainset doesnt come with a BB, so i assumed that the existing BB I have will work with it, and as the chainsets have the same rings, I wont have to faff around with altering chain length etc....0 -
You are correct, all BB30 bottom brackets should be the same, two internal circlips in a shell into which two bearings fit of size 42mm (external) x 30 (internal) x 7 (depth). The universal name for these bearings is a 61806-2RS bearing (or 6806-2RS).0
