Urgent dilemna - Your advice please.....

In a bit of a dilemna and need the help of anyone who has put some miles into the exalith rims.
When the original Royles 25% deal came on I ordered the Cosmic Carbone SL but they were out of stock and offered me a free upgrade to the SLE exalith wheels which I duly accepted for the same £580 that I would have paid for the SL's.
Since then they have sat unused ready for the summer bike but I am still concerned about durability of the new rim and there is little to reassure/deter online other than the well known weight weenies thread.
So.....with the new Royles deal today, I could buy the SL's and sell the SLE's for (hopefully) a profit. Or do I run the Exalith rims for a summer and see how they go.
Only 3 sets of SL's left so not long to decide!
Thoughts/advice welcome all. Thanks

Happy to hear the thoughts of non-exalith owners too i.e. what would you do in this same situation. ThanksCervelo P3

I have read a fair bit on the topic as I really fancied a set of SLR's. All accounts so far indicate they actually wear harder than the standard Ksyrium rims, but as I say that's not my personal experience. If you have had a cracking deal on the SLE's the exalith finish would not put me off, just the opposite in fact. The improved braking capability would be a bonus of me.0

Thanks mate. Yeah the braking is supposedly top notch although there is the noise issue too. I am leaning towards keeping the SLEs especially as I have paid for the MP3 on them.Cervelo P3

I have the SLE and couldn't be happier with them. That said I have only ridden them once!0

Good to hear mate cheers! How did you find the brake squeal? Is it that bad?Cervelo P3

I have the SLR's and the exalith braking surface is really good.
There is a loud noise when braking for the first handful of times you ride on them, but as soon as the rim gets coated with the Mavic brake pads which are used with them they're fine.0 -
dilemma - not 'dilemna'..0

Thank you - you have enriched my life with that spelling lessonCervelo P3

Mavic wheels are some of the toughest and the Exalith coating makes the rims extra hard wearing. Get em ridden0

Just been out for a couple of hours today and the roads round here are pretty awful, lots of back country roads, plenty of potholes and grit and gravel everywhere. The main reason I ride Mavics is because of their durability and these seemed to handle the rough roads round here well. In terms of ht embrace squel it isn't that bad and doesn't really bother me. That said I would put up with the noise for the vastly improved braking ability of standard rims.
So in summary....GO GET EM!0
