Hi,

I've got a Shimano M785 chainset that is currently 28/40.

I'm thinking about replacing the rings down to 26/38 as I'm a big jessy!

I've got a blackspire 26 ring for the small ring.

I would go for Shimano 38T ring but they haven't come out with anything yet.....

What options are there for the 38T ring that keeps reasonable shifting performance?

Thanks
Simon

Are they a standard 64/104mm BCD? The M985s are 88mm, limits what rings you can use to virtually none!

Luckily it is the standard 64/104 setup.

In that case I'd use a TA Chinook.

I've always like the look of the TA rings. Do you know how are they at shifting on a double?

How would it make any difference :?

I used them on 30/42 and 28/40 and they were fine.

I was expecting that shiffing a bigger "gap" on a double would be harder.

But now that I think about it, going from a 36 to a 38 on a double is the same change in teeth as on a tripple going from 32 to 44.

    I'll get my coat....

Correct. Never had a problem at all personally, and I used Chinooks for nearly 4 years.
