You'd have to be a regular visitor of both to be truly objective. Despite Cakestop being under Road, I feel the topics on Commuting Chat are more centred around (road) cycling as the people posting here are pretty much cycling every day.

I find Cake Stop surprisingly rubbish in general. The occasional interesting debate, but I find things are covered with a lot more humour and insight in Commuting Chat. Fewer fascists as well.
  • cake stop has more boobies but also more tits.

chat has informative slanging matches :D

cake stop has really changed a lot over the last year or so.

    For the worse.

Hence me posting more on here.

I guess it helps that I'm now in London - what with commuting chat being VERY london centric.

    Very well put.
Have you asked the question on both? Be interesting to see their responses.
  • more info on here chat , better photos on cake stop !!!

prefer the chat as wider range of subjects , more entertaining dialogue , as said earlierpeople who cycle most days on here to give honest replies on just about anything.

I do like the pictures on cake stop :-) but there's more banter and debate to get involved in on here, even if it does sometimes seem like some sort of left wing quarantine area ;-)

Cake stop has really gone downhill, even the crudcatcher on the MTB section is now more interesting. Commuting chat is my first port of call on the forum.

I'm a convert. My cycling habits take me towards "Cake Stop" via the "Road" route, but I find myself more and more over here in "Commuting Chat" nowadays.

Attributable to: 1. moving to London; 2. the wide topics of debate; 3. most of the debates here manage to run the course WITHOUT someone posting t1ts, @rses or other unnecessary personal anecdotes.

So yes, "Commuting Chat" for me, really. And when the season kicks off; "Pro Race" - it doesn't interest me at the moment as it's mainly transfer speculation.

Pro race is really dead at the moment.

    Really dead.

Seems people have tired of doping debates to keep them warm during the winter months.

    Even that has stopped.

At best we get some baiting from FrenchFighter on Contador, but he doesn't take it that seriously.

He's even a normal bloke when you meet him.

I feel like pro-cycling's almost in a post-postmodern phase. A kind of deliberate ignorance of the cynical side of it, and a deliberate focus on the brighter bits.

Kolobnev getting done in the Tour for example barely got 20 posts.

Slow day at work? Although it's rather flattering that you went to the bother of digging out one of my posts.

I like TnA and I appreciate the "Girls in [...]" threads - I think I may have contributed at some point. But some other threads in "Cake Stop" start off as a promising debate before someone does what I outline in #3 and the whole thing loses track.

I do hope there is clarity here, now - this could ruin my weekend.

Actually day off, so loads of time for detective work! Slightly unfair I know. In a bit of a mood on account of waking up to a freezing cold house and having to climb a ladder at 6am to clear solid ice from the guttering! Sodding boiler. I was being a bit narky.

As for asking the original question here, bit like going into the Kop and asking, who's better Liverpool or Everton?. I find Cake Stop more for lighthearted and nonsensical stuff, some of which, on occassion is interesting. Commuting Chat probably has more serious debate, although I do think one or two like the sound of their own keyboards a bit too much. All depends what you are looking for really, if it's a stressful day I prefer something not too taxing like political discussion, then again if there is a topic I feel strongly about I may add my 2 penneth, for what it's worth! Both Cake and Commuting have their place I suppose.

    Please have a lovely weekend.

I come here because Cake Stop isn't particularly girl-friendly (sorry but the pics kind of leave me cold). Bit disappointing really cos I love cake.

What? Even the ones of Girls In Knitwear. Sorry. Fair enough, but if the thread begins with 'girls', you know there is a good chance you won't like it. It's not all semi-naked women, there are one or two other topics.

Yeah, I know if it starts with Girls Wearing.... that it's just not going to appeal. So I come here instead. And I know someone could start a Boys Wearing.... thread, but lets face it, that picture of the team of male cyclists wearing white lycra will keep coming up, and I come on here at lunchtime :)

So, are you saying that the users of cake stop are tits?

Or that Commuting chat needs more tits?

With some of the discussions around here, I think we need less tits (me included!)
