Trail building course ?

Is there such a training course or has anyone any advice on the matter ? Might be interested as construction work has all but dryed up.

Never heard of a trailbuilding course in the UK, but contacting IMBA wouldn't be a bad idea. Working with volunteer groups is a good in, if you've not done that already but I guess on-the-job training with a trail design or building firm would be the best way?

TBH trail design is a black art, anyone can dig some holes and chuck in some type 1 but looking at a hillside and knowing where to start just totally defeats me- I've seen us weeks into a trail and I'm still saying "This is going to be s***", then all of a sudden it comes together and the big picture that the boss could always see in his head becomes obvious, and I go "This is going to be mint!"

try find a copy of imba trail soutions book.. it is an amazing read for a wouldbe trail builder... i know they have courses through out north america.. not sure about the uk...
