Been looking around for a bike around £500 and narrowed it down to these...

Wondering if anyone could help with advice and thoughts on these. Also any other bikes arounf the 500 mark which would be worth having a look at.
Cheers

Sorry, but certainly none of the ones you linked to!
The rockrider is great. Also:
If it'll fit you, this Ghost SE 6000 is brilliant.0 -
The Cape Wrath is a dog, steer well clear....
Rockrider is 'best buy', carrera Fury runs it close on spec but rides slightly differently and the VooDoo is worth a look as well....
What sort of riding do you intend to do?
SimonCurrently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Thanks for the replies. Will be mostly using it off road, dirt roads etc.
The Ghost SE 6000 seems a cracker but would be too small :?0 -
Halfords - boardman comp - £539 - bargain0

Yeah hybrid if you are looking to stay on roads/gravel tracks/not so bumpy paths, but if you are wanting to have some propper off road fun (more challenging wood/forest trails) and don't mind being a little slower on road, then stick to a propper MTB. The Ghost Cross range are some of the best looking and specced hybrids IMO tho if you think the Hybrid route suits you!0

Live out in the sticks so would be taking on some proper off road as you say
Sorry complete new to biking so the advice is really appreciated. Dont want to end up with a 'dog' of a bike either0 -
Try this:

As good as some bikes at twice the money.0 -
What the same as the first response to the OP ;-)0

Hehe, needed saying twice!0

Going to have a look at the Boardman tomorrow...
Come across this Beone http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=59240
Any views on the above?0 -
Mythical quoted weight, but good parts spec for the money.0

I'd go with the boardman over that and still leave a fair wedge in the pocket0
