Lake District Bike/Dog Holiday - Quality Places To Stay?

The wife and I are planning a trip up to the Lake District in May and would like to take the dog we got a few months ago so she can take him on long 'windy walks' (by herself) and I can tool off on my road bike and hopefully tackle some of the climbs in the area 
Specifically, I'd like to stay around the Buttermere area and was wondering if anyone had any advice of a good quality/luxury cottage or similar that welcomes pets? We don't have kids so something small is fine and preferably not a park or similar which would likely be full of other peoples kids!

Hi Gary,
My parents have a self catering cottage in Ambleside. I've used it many times for bike trips, it has a cellar suitable for bikes. I think there are a couple of available weeks in May, I shall be up there myself for the Fred on the 13th.
