i seen a really good deal on a 2x10 shimano xtr m985 crank..
but i need a 2x9 sp crank to match my other bits does anyone know if you can replace the rings (30-44) with 9sp rings say 24or26-34or36 and run a bashguard...
thanks. DC

No, as per your other thread they're 88mm BCD, and you can't fit 3 rings, there's nowhere to mount a granny ring.
Nothing to stop you using those rings on a 9 speed set up, but it's obviously taller gearing.0 -
thought as much as i have been looking for hours now and could not find any info on that set up..
gutted i really set me heart on these cranks and can get a set brand new for £225..
problem is i got a xtr rear mech and shifters for xmass but they are the 9 sp ones...
mmmm have to think about it was hoping to so run a 24/26-34/36 dont know if my unfit skinny little legs would cope with 2 rings 30-44...
thanks for your help .www.bearbackbiking.com

9/10 speed chainrings are totally cross compatible - the fact it's a 10 speed chainset is totally irrelevant, it's just the ratios that are the issue.0
