Where do you get your helicopter tape?

Expensive stuff this helicopter tape, and there appears to be some retailers of the tape at 10 times the quantity for the same price as the 3M stuff... I'm guessing this is just sellotape... I'm planing on covering the entire frame to protect a brand new (and probably vulnerable) finish. Did you just get yours from Ebay?

You can get all sorts of different thicknesses, shapes and sizes. Some stuff sticks better than others, some of it holds better when stuck and so on.
I know biketart do some that is pretty popular, it's quite thin, but it's very strong (had some small patches on the edison and it stuck well, and the cables never rubbed through it).
Crankskins also do a number of complete protection kits with bits that are cut and shaped for various bits of the bike.

I used one of these before, think it was on the Mmmbop, and it was very good, but it was very thick.0 -
Cool, good link - the kits don't look to cover a broad area of the tubes though. Found the stuff on biketart too and the rolls aren't very long. I want to protect quite a lot of the frame from flapping shorts et al, so I'm going with a 3mx50cm stuff from fleabay. If it's crap, I'll let you know0

The tube patches are 30" long and 3.85" wide (each) so I guess it depends on how wide your tubes are. Steeleys would probably get more of a complete wrap than a big alloy beast like your canyon.
I really should add that I generally don't go in for the whole bike-tape thing. The stuff crankskins sent me was free, and the stuff biketart sent me was more of a tester.
I tend to just cover the bits prone to cable-rub and leave the rest.0 -

Couple of bits to protect from cable rub are enough for me. Can't see the point of covering a whole bike - it's mountain bike.I don't do smileys.

Cos I've resprayed it myself, and the finish won't be as durable as the original.0

I'm just slightly concerned that the whole thing will look like I painted it with a turd after a few crashes... I'm becoming a little precious about it. Once the laquer has cured properly maybe I'll have a little more faith in it...0

Yup, plenty of paint left... Maybe I'll just do the key areas.0
